SUSTAINABILITY IN ALL OUR ACTIVITIES

GMC Eiendom challenges architects, contractors and authorities on the environment and sustainability. As a result, we realized heat exchange from the sea, green roofs, solar cells and low or zero power consumption.

A LONG-TERM PLAYER

Since the early 1970s, GMC Eiendom has built expertise in environmental and ethical aspects of property development. We currently own and manage properties from harbors to workshops, warehouses, modern office buildings and residential buildings.

80 PERCENT RENEWABLE

Byfjordparken marks the standard of GMC Eiendom´s commitment to the environment. This is a new district in Stavanger Nord, which GMC has developed on its own plot of land. Byfjordparken utilizes heat exchange from sea water and solar cells to achieve an 80 percent renewable electricity consumption. This level equals Stavanger municipality’s ambition for renewables by the year 2030.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PROFILE

GMC Eiendom’s collaboration with the municipality of Stavanger, Rogaland county and national environmental authorities has strengthened our environmental profile. The Byfjordparken project is supported by ENOVA. The outdoor areas and the playing areas for kids are being developed through a pilot project in collaboration with Stavanger municipality Green City and Rogaland county municipality. In addition, we have our own initiatives, such as green roofs, passive houses and plus houses (classes of net energy consumption), or a sharing scheme for cars and bicycles.

Commercial tenants in Byfjordparken can opt for a green attachment to the contract, ensuring future focus on climate and the environment.
